The new year delivers a collection of terrific dining destinations in SF and beyond.
Enclos is new in Sonoma.
PARK TAVERN
Park Tavern is back under new ownership in Washington Square Park. “Park Tavern is a more contemporary version of the original but with legendary chef Jonathan Waxman’s culinary program,” says owner James Nicholas. “Chef ’s take on seasonal Californian and rustic Italian cuisine gives North Beach a culinary option that didn’t exist before we opened.” Diners can look forward to enjoying Waxman’s roast chicken with salsa verde and bucatini carbonara in a refreshed, lighter and brighter space. 1652 Stockton St., 415.432.9399, parktavern-sf.com

MODI
Named for the Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, Modi is an eatery that combines the flavors of Italian and Mexican cuisine. The unique menu items include branzino with pesto and achiote, squid-ink spaghetti with clams and chorizo, and risotto Milanese with bone marrow. “At Modi, it’s not just about serving a meal—it’s about creating an experience that celebrates cultural fusion, community and connection,” says manager Matteo Avallone. “Seeing guests savor familiar and surprising dishes while creating memories in our space is incredibly rewarding.” 88 Natoma St., 415.757.0245, sfmodi.com

BH WOOD-FIRED GRILL
Over in Walnut Creek, the team behind Bounty Hunter collaborated with Hi Neighbor Hospitality to reimagine the space, and it’s transformed into BH Wood-Fired Grill. “We’ve been working on the menu for months, and the food is sophisticated and comprised of high-quality ingredients, but it is so approachable,” says Hi’s CEO Ryan Cole. “We tried to design the menu so that you could have a special occasion or just come sit at the bar, have a martini and spinach dip and leave equally satisfied.” There’s steak, lobster, Mt. Lassen trout, beef carpaccio, unique cocktails and an excellent lemon bundt cake. 1521 Mt. Diablo Blvd.,Walnut Creek, 925.433.9314, bhwoodfiredgrill.com

ENCLOS
Aged tuna belly with koshihakari rice, succulents and brown butter, and passion fruit and sea urchin are on the tasting menu at the recently debuted fine dining destination, Enclos. “My philosophy is to take high-quality ingredients and elevate them without manipulating them to a point you don’t recognize them anymore,” says chef Brian Limoges. “Synergy in cooking is finding ways for ingredients to elevate each other.” Jiun Ho designed the wine country restaurant housed in a historic Victorian, combining traditional architecture with modern elements to create an intimate and inviting experience. 139 East Napa St., Sonoma, 707.387.1724, enclos-sonoma.com
