Colin Kaepernick’s off season has been impressive: charity work, training, and a surprise visit to his old high school’s graduation. But what about those endorsement deals, photo shoots, and parties? We want Kap to be the most exciting QB in the world during the season. But until then, we’d rather see him under house arrest. Here’s why we’re worried.
1. Too Many Awards Shows
At least he took his shades off for the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas. While accepting his ESPY Award for Best Breakthrough Athlete, Kaepernick kept his oversized sunglasses on, prompting teammate Joe Staley to tweet him that it wasn’t actually sunny inside the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
2. Too Many Endorsements
We can understand signing up with Jaguar cars, but two days after coach Jim Harbaugh expressed concern over Kaepernick bulking up in the off-season, Kap signed an endorsement deal with nutritional supplement company MusclePharm. 3. Too Many Parties
We don’t mind if the 25-year old wants to grab a few beers with friends, but dude, why would you ever want to party at the Playboy mansion with domestic abuser Chris Brown? Maybe Kap could spend more time hanging out with Chris Kluwe or Vernnon Davis?
4. Too Many Fastballs
As far as we can tell, there was no damage to Kaepernick’s golden right arm when he threw an 87-mile-per-hour fastball as a first pitch at a Giants game this summer. A former high school pitcher, he should have known the risk.
5. Too Much Acting
Kaepernick stars in a 30-second spot for Yahoo! Sports fantasy football that makes us pine for William Shatner. Or Keanu Reeves. Or Tommy Wiseau.
6. Too Many Photobombs
On July 4th, Kap wore a hat with the Miami Dolphins’ logo plastered across it. Yikes. His defense: “I’m goin wear what I want, regardless of what you think…” out of Kaepernick on his Instagram account.
