7 Restaurant Specials for July 4th and the America's Cup

The America's Cup kicks off on the Fourth of July, and local bars and restaurants are dropping a few deals and specials suited to the occasion. To help you get your nautical bearings, we've charted some of the more promising drinking and dining trends for this Thursday and beyond:

Easy Picnics: Pick up a "Luella in a bag" ($48) from Luella, which contains a selection of standard picnic fare for two, including fried chicken, ribs, spicy slaw, and biscuits. Orders must be placed 24 hours in advance and will be available for curbside pickup on July 3rd. You can also grab a Pizza Picnic ($22) from Poggio Trattoria, which includes a wood-fired oven pizza (choose from Margherita, Salsiccia, or Salumi), a Gem lettuce salad, and lemon mousse.

Indoor Specials: Current forecasts predict a pleasant 76 degrees on the Fourth in San Francisco, which makes for great al fresco dining. But if you're afraid of opportunistic seagulls swooping in to steal your food, go indoors for SliderBar's new seasonal beer and slider pairing menu with 21st Amendment Brewery ($12), available throughout the month. Try a "Brew Free or Die" IPA and a 3-Alarm Slider (Niman Ranch beef, cheddar cheese, habanero jam, Serrano chiles, and pickled jalapenos) or reconcile the seemingly paradoxical pairing of a Bitter American pale ale with the American Pride Slider (Niman Ranch beef, cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, pickled onions, and mayo). Friends with a sailor? Alioto's is offering America's Cup crewmen 15% off their entire check from the 4th through September 21st.

Themed cocktails: Although they won't come at a discount, several spots are adding themed drinks to their menu. Look for the Rocket's Red Glare ($11) cocktail from E&O Asian Kitchen, made with Evan Williams House Select bourbon, St. George absinthe, fresh cherries, and lemon, or the Scarlett Sparkler ($13) at The Mortimer, which blends Bulleit bourbon with Cointreau, strawberry rhubarb jam, lemon, and chocolate bitters. To celebrate the America's Cup, Gitane is serving a Marinero EspaƱa (meaning "Spanish Sailor") cocktail with Zaya aged rum, Madeira, and Cava for $12.
