When it comes to finding a balanced cocktail that combines intricate and unexpected ingredients, look no further than this cocktail made with Highland Park Scotch whisky. Highland Park offers a flavor profile of rich, fruity, aromas intertwined with intense floral peaty notes. Born in the Orkney Islands, this wind battered yet beautifully mild climate makes a complex whisky like no other.
Below, we spoke with Kevin Diedrich of Kona’s Street Market who crafted a delicious Highland Park cocktail that highlights the harmony of the wild elements found in the whisky’s unique island home.
How did you design the cocktail?
Inspired by the flavors of Dill, Aquavit and Highland Park.
When would you drink this? Describe the setting…
We like to call this a patio pounder, freshing, layers of flavor and sessionable.
How do you drink your Highland Park? What do you like about Highland Park?
I like to enjoy Highland Park over a cube, to open up the flavors of the whiskey.
Where do you find your inspirations for what you do? How does San Francisco impact that?
Inspiration comes from a lot of food pairings and desserts. SF has a huge asian/pacific influence, which helps with finding some really cool flavor pairings
What are you most excited about in the year ahead?
Bars, restaurants reopening and being able to host guests in the bar again.
1.5 oz Highland Park 12 Year Old

.5 oz Chareau
.75 oz Pink Peppercorn-Chrysanthemum Syrup
.5 oz lemon Juice
