Mandatory Weekend (exist) - 24

Ian Eck | January 30, 2014 | Lifestyle Story City Life

Super Bowl XLVIII
What: The most finely-tuned specimens in the world compete in a violent chess match on the national stage.
Where: Anywhere with a tv. Here are some good sports bars.
When: Sunday, 3:30 PM
Cost: Depends what you're betting.
Why: To see this man happy and this man sad. (Sweet pic though, I gotta say. And I actually think Pete might be a class act, unfortunately.)

American Indian Two Spirit Powwow Dance and Drum Festival
What: The third annual Bay Area Two Spirits Pow Wow will have drum circles, dance contests, and plenty of food, shops, and crafts to go around.
Where: SOMArts, 934 Brannan St.
When: Saturday, 10:30 to 6 PM
Cost: FREE
Why: They say they're "the first and only public two spirits powwow in the world."

"F*ck Your New Years Resolution" Party
What: A dance party replete with chocolate, bacon, high-end cocktails, and sultry performances. Anything naughty—it's here.
Where: Monarch, SoMa
When: Thursday, 9 PM
Cost: $15-45 ($10 through SF FunCheap)
Why: Bacon, chocolate, and sex.

Vinyl & Indie Concert w/ Social Studies
What: An in-store live performance from local indie pop group Social Studies.
Where: Amoeba Music
When: Saturday, 2 PM
Cost: FREE
Why: If you like brainy indie-pop, you'll like this SF band. Get some fresh vinyl while you're at it.

Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction
What: A comedy show hosted by Bryan Cook that features comics interacting with the audience to create hilarious brands of erotic fan fiction.
When and Where: Friday, 10 PM at the Brava Theatre; Saturday, 10:30 PM at the Verdi Club
Cost: $25
Why: Because it's ridiculous.
