2014 Winter "Beer Olympics"

What: Come dressed in your country’s colors; unitards and jerseys are encouraged. The 2014 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony will be playing while the Beer Olympics Games take place. The official beginning to the 2014 Sochi Winter Games features over 3,000 dancers, singers and actors in a performance of Russian history called "Welcome to Sochi."

When: February 7th at 8:30PM.
Cost: Free entry with a drink purchase.
Why: Don't miss seeing Russia's biggest points of pride—including Nikolai Gogal's "Dead Souls," classical music, ballet and the architecture of Moscow and St. Petersburg—choreographed in musical medleys and performances. Also the first 50 people to arrive get free Olympic ‘Onion’ Rings (an edible version of the five-ringed symbol of the Olympic Games).

Black Choreographers Festival

What: The 10th anniversary of the annual Black Choreographers Festival features workshops and a range of performances by well-established choreographers and emerging dance artists.
Where: Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
When: Multiple events throughout February 9th to March 8th.
Cost: $0.50-$35.
Why: Check out the workshops for all levels in a variety of dance styles, plus a daylong pass costs only 50 cents.

$1 Book Sale

What: This monthly sale offers an array of books for just $1 each. Proceeds benefit the San Francisco Public Library.
Where: SF Library Donation Center at 438 Treat Ave.
When: February 8th from 10AM to 2PM.
Cost: Free entrance. $1 for books and media.
Why: Because these rare rainy days call for cuddling up to a new (old) book.

2014 Lunar New Year Celebration

What: Revel in this year’s Lunar New Year Celebration with live music, entertainment, lion dancers and a noodle pulling demonstration by M.Y. China.
Where: Westfield San Francisco Centre.
When: February 8th at 2PM.
Cost: Free.
Why: The Year of the Snake is ending and the Year of the Horse begins--this is definitely something to celebrate.
