What We're Obsessed With Right Now (exist) - 22

Ted Gioia, Editorial Intern: Ever since last Wednesday’s Top Chef I’ve been obsessed with the fierce and fabulous Dominique Crenn (the first female chef in the country with two Michelin stars) of Atelier Crenn. While mentoring in a French vs. Spanish challenge, she practically came to blows with fellow mentor Julian Serrano calling his dishes “too safe” and “too dry.”

Katherine Guzman, Editorial Intern: I have this tea steeper called Mr. Tea that I initially bought for a white elephant gift last month. Unfortunately he was accidentally forgotten and it's the best mistake I ever made. You fill his pants with loose leaf tea then perch him up on the rim of the mug and let him relax and enjoy himself while it brews! Look at that face. I think we're about to become best friends.

Scott Lucas, Web Editor: I'm probably doing a story about it later, but I can't stop listening to "Lava," a chiptune song made almost entirely on a hacked Game Boy Advance by zine writer, yo-yo-er, and nerdcore rapper Doctor Popular. It's awesome when awesome people do things that are awesome.

Jon Steinberg, Editor-in-Chief: The new album from Florida neo-punks Against Me! probably isn't their best, but it's undoubtedly their bravest. Called Transgender Dysmorphia Blues, and currently streaming on NPR, the record comes after the band's lead singer, Tom Grabel, transitioned from a man to a woman. (She now goes by Laura Jane Grace). Grace's voice has climbed half an octave from her Grabel days, but the political lyrics and thrashy melodies are still blessedly intact.
