What We're Obsessed With Right Now (exist) - 39

Scott Lucas | May 21, 2014 | Lifestyle Story City Life

Ellen Cushing, Senior Editor: Do you like funny jokes? Would you like to hear them for 24 HOURS OF YOUR LIFE????????? Well, Cynic Cave—the new-ish comedy collective headed by local comic/genius George Chen—is hosting a nonstop, 24-hour, 35-comic humor extravaganza this weekend and from all appearances it will be utterly rad.

Scott Lucas, Web Editor: George Michael is the new Weekend at Bernie's.

Rebecca Marx, Senior Editor: The Commissary, the new restaurant that Traci des Jardins opened in the Presidio this week. I loved everything I ate there at the media preview last Sunday, and can't wait to go back for a real dinner.

Adam Brinklow, Editorial Fellow: The Netflix summary bug phenomena. Netflix's mobile app developed a glitch that mushes the plot summaries of different movies together, resulting in what often sounds like a more entertaining film. Example: "Director Sophie Fiennes journeys to the epicenter of ideology through interpretations of a need to battle the Green Goblin." Or: "Megamind faces the effects of communicating with Neo-Nazis." Better yet: "Renowned chef Ferran Adria perfects a new menu from long-ago sperm bank donations."

Ian Eck, Editorial Intern: This real estate site made an app that uses Google Street View to compare SF neighborhoods' current states to what they looked like five years ago. Just to highlight one neighborhood, the changes of streets in Bayview are drastic.

Sofia Perez, Editorial Intern: I'm terrified, but can't stop reading all the SF earthquake talk that's been floating on the web. I wish I didn't know, yet I want to read every story I see that's about the city being wrecked by tremors. Eek! It's a sure fire way to make me stock up on canned beans and water bottles.

Carly Salzberg, Editorial Intern: Kopi Luwak—coffee passed through Asian palm civet poop—is not only the rarest brew in town—it's the most expensive. Insane! I almost want to try it.
