Oakland-Based Abstinence Spirits Shares Two Non-Alcoholic Cocktail Recipes For The Holidays

Oakland-based Abstinence Spirits takes non-alcoholic sips to a new taste level this holiday season.
Mai Tai Vibes is a tribute to Oakland.
Ranwei Chiang is passionate about holiday cocktails and her Oakland-based non-alcoholic brand, Abstinence Spirits (@abstinence_spirits). The CEO’s team distills everything in small batches and adds South African botanicals for depth and flavor. I asked Chiang to share her favorite holiday cocktails.
The Royal Ruby cocktail offers the perfect hue to complement holiday celebrations.
MAI TAI VIBES
“We created this cocktail as an ode to Oakland and the home of the original Mai Tai at Trader Vic’s,” says Chiang.
2.0 oz. Abstinence Cape Spice 0.5 oz. Abstinence Lemon Aperitif 3.0 oz. Pineapple juice 0.5 oz. Lime juice (optional) 1 tablespoon aquafaba Pineapple wedge for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS
Mix all liquid ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously for 20 seconds. Add aquafaba (chickpea water) for a silky, creamy finish. Garnish with a slice of pineapple or a cherry.

1.5 oz. Abstinence Blood Orange Aperitif 1.0 oz. Abstinence Cape Floral 3.0 oz. Grapefruit Soda (we use Fever Tree) Lime for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS
Pour the ingredients over ice in a highball or wine glass. Give it a quick stir and garnish with lime.
