Any Excuse For Pie in the Mission

Adam L Brinklow | March 14, 2014 | Food & Drink Story Eat and Drink

As you know, March 14 is Pi Day and a hallowed San Francisco tradition. It's our civic duty this Mathematical Carnaval in the most fitting manner. It's a higher calling.

Oh who are we kidding? This is just a great day to play hooky and eat pie. Goldbely, a New York startup who specialize in airdropping the best foods from one part of the country to hungry gourmands elsewhere like a culinary Silk Road, came to the Mission's Dear Mom with pies in tow. Because San Francisco just can't get enough of New York's food, it seems. So was it worth having the pies patted down by the TSA? We'll rate the offerings on a scale of one to 3.14:

Twin Peaks Cherry Pie: That's a reference to the David Lynch show, not Aaron Peskin's neighborhood. We'll let you decide which of the two is more baffling.
