What: The Rock Bar opened in March by Kevin Cline and Josey White, owners of the Front Porch, conveniently situated across the street.
Vibe: Decidedly dive bar with a kitschy rock- walled exterior. The tawdry veneer is more ironic than not. Enjoy the eclectic jukebox, curated by Aquarius Records, plus the hipster beer and spirits selection.
Stats: Gin versus vodka selection: 7 to 3. Male hoodie-wearers versus non–hoodie wearers: 8 out of 13. Prices: $7–9 for the house cocktails; $5 for draft beers.
Novelty order: Fire in the Hole ($9) includes a shot of Bulleit bourbon, a bottle of Schlitz, and a piece of salami made by Drewes Bros. Meats, located two blocks away.
Secret weapon: Bucket of fried chicken from the Front Porch delivered right to your barstool. Doesn’t get better than that.
