A South Bay man who must have mistook a Virgin American flight from Boston to Los Angeles for the 38 Geary, caused the plane to make an emergency landing in Omaha after he was found masturbating and then tried to open an exit door. According to an Omaha police report obtained by NBC, 26-year old Doug Adams of Woodside was arrested after the plane was forced to make an emergency landing midway through its flight.
The Federal Aviation Administration called it a "medical emergency"—which was echoed by a Virgin American spokesperson. But filmmaker Sam Slater, who was also on the flight, took a cell phone video of the incident, and said that Adams, who was wearing a hospital bracelet, appeared to be "unruly." Another passenger told KTLA that Adams "seemed very upset by something, very agitated for some reason." She went on to say that “he was sort of pacing up and down the aisles. As a physician, I was a little bit more worried about his mental state.”
After the plane landed and Adams was arrested, the flight continued on to Los Angeles, a town in which drug-induced masturbatory frenzies don't lead to arrests, but screenplays.
