Summer in the Bay Area isn't complete without at least one trip to many of our fantastic beaches. What could make this dreamy beach experience even better is the chance to have a bonfire with friends in one of the many great firepits these beaches have!

Here is our list for all the great beaches around the Bay Area that have the best bonfire pits so that you can have the perfect summery seaside moments, following fire safety regulations.

Ocean Beach, San Francisco

Sloat Blvd and Great Hwy, San Francisco / Website

Starting with Ocean Beach right on the western edge of San Francisco, this is the perfect local getaway that's easily accessible by car or the N-Judah Muni. With their 16 first-come, first-serve large fire pits spread across the beach, you are sure to find one to claim with either your small group, or just kindly joining another sharing theirs and make new friends! Definitely bring some marshmallows to toast!

Fires must be extringuished by water only by 9:30 p.m. and groups over 25 people must require a special use permit.

Twin Lakes State Beach Santa Cruz

Heading down to Santa Cruz, this cute short stretch of sand offers several fire pits along with an incredible view of the Walton Lighthouse while still being tucked away and peaceful. Definitely get here early as parking is limited, and because the fire pits tend to get claimed quickly!

Up north just past Tomales Bay is another secluded gem- Dillon Beach. By entering the oasis with a small fee, you will encounter the best tucked away spot that's serene, dog-friendly, complete with high-quality restrooms and picnic tables, and most importantly, full of amazing fire pits!

Muir Beach, Sausalito

For another day trip out of San Francisco, we recommend Muir Beach, as its nearby town is unmissably adorable, and the beach itself features six fire rings for use from May to November that are open between 9 a.m. to an hour past sunset. Three fire pits are also then available from December through April for those winter firepit enthusiasts.

Seabright Beach, Santa Cruz

E Cliff Dr and Mott Ave, Santa Cruz / Website

This beach in Santa Cruz has 10 fire pits just off of the Main Beach for those who want to escape the tourist crowd for a more relaxed atmosphere. Check out its nearby Museum of Natural History and famous Boardwalk before heading over to this gorgeous spot and claiming your bonfire for a complete scenic evening.

Drakes Beach, Point Reyes National Seashore

Before heading to this fabulous corner of the marvelous Point Reyes National Seashore, make sure to grab some firewood, a free fire permit, and plenty of delicious roast-worthy provisions, as you'll definitely want to make the most out of your day at this popularly breathtaking site!
