Here are the best things to do this fall in San Francisco.
A night tour of Alcatraz
Visiting Alcatraz at night can be a truly exceptional experience if you are looking for something a little bit spooky as Halloween approaches. You may enjoy the narrated boat tour, a visit to the prison, the cellhouse and gorgeous evening view of San Francisco. Budget approximately three hours for the trip, and be sure to book tickets well in advance as the trip is popular!
With Halloween approaching, it's time to take a walking tour at night and explore the darker side of the city. Enjoy a Secrets, Scandals and Soundrels Tour of the notable crimes in San Francisco, or a Ghost Hunt Walking Tour about the supernatural history of the city, or even a Vampire Walking Tour to learn about San Francisco’s relationship with the vampires.
Celebrate San Francisco Fleet Week, which is recognized by the United States Department of Defense as one of the model fleet weeks across the country. Founded in 1981 to celebrate America's sea services, SFFW offers ship tours and parades every year. This year, it will run from Oct. 2 through 10, taking place in Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Park and San Francisco Bay. It's free, but you can purchase VIP packages too. Schedules and tickets are available here.
Lemos Farm has long been a favorite for families in the bay area. The kids will enjoy the pumpkin patch, haunted house, goat yoga, hay ride, pony ride, petting zooand more. For older kids and adults, the haunted house is sure to spook, and for kids, a less-intense version is on offer too. Lemos Farm is open every day in October and on weekends in November. Enjoy!
