Reopening officially on June 24, Chez Panisse can finally put its disastrous March fire in the past. The original designer from 1971 has overseen a rebuild that retains the restaurant’s iconic woodsy warmth, while ironing out some of the quirks. Now there’s a new gable roof, a street-side brick patio, and a copper-and-mahogany bar upstairs.

By mid-July, Three Twins will have come back to life after the four-alarm fire that gutted it in September 2011. Enlarged gelato cases will display 12 flavors instead of the former 8. Look for new choices like chocolate malt and butter pecan, plus a salted caramel ice cream sandwich.
