Food & Drink Story Eat and Drink
June 3, 2014 |
Wise Sons began its life as a pop-up, and come this weekend, the restaurant and delicatessen is going back to its roots for one night only.
On Sunday, June 8, owners Evan Bloom and Leo Beckerman will host a pop-up dinner of sorts with Amanda Freitag, the celebrated New York chef (and Iron Chef warrior) behind the recently reincarnated Empire Diner. Bloom describes the so-called Diner Meets Deli menu as "a little greasy spoon, a little bit of deli, and a little playful," which means that it will feature things like corned beef chili cheese fries, a pastrami Monte Cristo, and a banana split topped with mandel bread streusel. You can find the whole megillah here.
The a la carte menu will be served counter-service-style from 5:30pm until 9:30, after which guests will be left to stumble their way home through a food coma.
