What: An impermanent bar and lounge for up to 500 ravenous racegoers will take up 12,000 square feet on Pier 27 until October. Bartenders Scott Beattie and Eric Rubin (Hog & Rocks, Hi Lo BBQ) have put together food and drink menus that reflect the soul of San Francisco.
Crowd: Kiwis and bejeweled European boatrace groupies mingling with local color of all sorts.
Prices: Cocktails are $14, beers start at $6, and wines by the glass start at $9. Food options range from $8 for a 4505 Meats bacon-studded hot dog to $78 for a four-person shellfish tower tricked out with Dungeness crab, shrimp, and lobster.
Order this: For breakfast, 4505 Meats’ maple-bacon breakfast sausage adorns a sandwich with an over-easy egg. Later in the day, you can get three barbecued short rib sliders on Acme brioche for $14. (The America’s Cup Sports Bar, Pier 27, the Embarcadero)
