It was a magical and filling evening in the Ferry Building Sunday night that both accentuated and defined summer in San Francisco, all through creatively gastronomic implementation of the season's freshest produce.
Foodwise's Summer Bash invited 30 of the city's top restaurants with 15 of our finest breweries, wineries, and cocktail companies to showcase their inventive utilization of the most peak-season ingredients, all under the Ferry Building's fabulous Grand Hall and serene outdoor promenade.

Formerly Cuesa, Foodwise has been devoted to promoting youth education, community access, and sustainable culinary appreciation all through locally-sourced food since 1994. With the Ferry Building being a historic and globally-renowned hub for innovatively diverse cuisine, it is only fitting for it to be the magnificent gathering place for Summer Bash to present their equally brilliant culinary masterminds.
As soon as the building's clock tower bellowed 5:30 p.m., many adorned in the most resplendently gorgeous summer attire flocked to sample the 45 booths, both outdoors and upstairs on the striking balcony.
Games were also scattered throughout, as a passport to completing their interactive produced-themed challenges allowed entry into a raffle with a prize including vendor goodies that all value over $1000. Proceeds from this spectacular faire also went towards funding their famous farmers markets, insightful education programs, and inclusive food access initiatives which uplift both Bay residents and 100+ local farms and businesses.
Such programs include the free Foodwise Kids and Foodwise Teens, which benefit and enrich over 3,000 students, families, and children, as well as fortify our resilient and health food systems.
Live music filled the joyous atmosphere, which accentuated the fresh and flavorful dining experience from each unique booth.
Such creatively complex bites included Causwells' Ricotta Crisp with corn and peppers, ROOH 's Compressed Summer Melon with Tomato Rasam Gel and Togarashi Chat Masala, refreshing Watermelon Gazpacho from Canela, and smoky Shrimp Toastie with Chili Mayo and peach from Hilda and Jesse.
For dessert, Crumble & Whisk's Roasted Peach Cheesecake was divine, along with Batter Bakery 's intriguing Black Cornmeal, Pistachio & Berry Thumbprint, and the ingenious Mais Doughnut with Sweet Corn Glaze from D.R.E.A.M. Doughnuts.
Refreshingly fruity cocktails were also seen circling the radiant occasion, particularly the Three Sheets Cocktail with Highland Park Scotch, Pink Peppercorn, and Dill from Pacific Cocktail Haven, Frey Ranch Distillery's lemony Ranch Hand bourbon Cocktail, crisp Far West Cider, and classic Anchor Brewing beer.
