Celebrate Filipino American History Month With Celebs At City Hall October 5th

October is Filipino American History Month, and San Francisco is kicking off this celebration with an extravagant festivity in City Hall on October 5th that features a guest list of Mayor London Breed, Golden State Warriors “Hype Man” Franco Finn, and other prominent local celebrities.

This celebration marks San Francisco's 18th year of honoring the powerful strides Filipino American have made, not only in the city, but nationwide within media, art, sports, and all other professions, showcasing tremendous resilience and perseverance against historic culturally marginalizing adversities.

Such success is acknowledged through this year's rightful theme of “Reflection. Resilience. Reinvention,” and will feature two hours, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, packed with heartfelt keynote speeches, awe-inspiring performances and award ceremonies.

City Hall's gorgeously opulent Rotunda will be the epicenter for all of this historic commemorations, with the night being hosted by the brilliantly talented Franco Finn of Golden State Warriors “Hype Man” prestige, and NBC Bay Area reporter Ginger Conejero-Saab.

Other notable figures to grace the evening include Philippine Consul General Neil Ferrer, who will be giving remarks immediately following Mayor London Breed's proclamation, as well as Executive Director of West Bay Pilipino Multi-Service Center Carla Laurel, and Carlen Ocampo with the St Augustine Children’s Choir powerfully singing the Anthem.

San Lorenzo local and famous Filipina rapper Ruby Ibarra will also be delivering a performance that is guaranteed to captivate with her golden voice reverberating thoughout the rotunda.

Speeches and singing aren't the only delights to look forward to, as several cultural performances from Kulintang Dialect and Parangal Dance Company, as well as a pop up exhibition by Baybayin Artist Taipan Lucero will also occur to authentically showcase the vibrant historic and diasporic art and dance of the Philippines.

Many recognitions will also be bestowed, such as the Trailblazer Award, Community Champion Award, and the Emerging Leader Award, all to honor and uplift those who thoroughly make committed and diligent efforts to wholeheartedly benefit their fellow Filipino American community and organizations.
