June 21, 2012 |Mulberry, the high-fashion Brit label known for its classic lambskin and ostrich bags, opens its first West Coast store in Union Square today. "The city is a great fit with our brand," says CEO Bruno Guillon. "It's intelligent, modern, creative, and has a relaxed confidence." (Take that, L.A.) The sprawling 3,100-square-foot space was designed by Universal Design Studio--the same firm behind the brand's London and New York flagships--decked with white porcelain tiled walls, dark wood floors, and mirrored gold light fixtures. This is the first Mulberry store with a mezzanine, as well as a second-floor gallery space for collaborations and pop-up installations. Apart from the label's splurgy leather bags (check out the new Del Rey style, named after the "Video Games" songstress herself), you'll also find a range of jewelry, shoes, and womenswear. "This season we've used furry textures, earthy, natural tones, and multiple-print combinations as a consistent story-telling thread," says Emma Hill, the label's Creative Director. Her top picks: the full-skirt dress in black leather and the long goat fur coat in oak. Click ahead to scope out more fall 2012 highlights in-store.
