Vibrant hues and the power of wallpaper refresh a beautiful historic home in Dolores Heights.
The home’s vibrant office features Cowtan & Tout wallpaper and a Prevalent Projects knitting chair.
When in doubt, take a peek overseas for a little inspiration. That’s what French-born, California-based Florence Livingston, founder of Florence Livingston Interiors (florencelivingston.com), did with a recent project in SF’s Dolores Heights.
“We turned to current British interiors for inspiration—specifically, our client holds a deep admiration for Beata Heuman and their remarkable work, which seamlessly incorporates playful and feminine silhouettes into their designs while skillfully balancing them with classic pieces of furniture,” says Livingston.
The designer says the perfect mix she used creates interiors that are never gimmicky but timeless and cheerful. “We admire how some current British interiors can have an effortless mix of color, pattern and antique pieces. We wanted that for this 1911 Edwardian home, but we put it through our quieter and cleaner California filter.”
A Garde bench and an antique Malayer rug grace the home’s foyer.
