Damn you, gluttonous Napa weekends: If you're anything like us, at this point in the season you’ve had more than your fair serving of wine and attended more crush parties than you can remember. But going to Napa doesn’t have to be all about testing your drinking limit—no matter how good the cabs are. Instead, take advantage of some of the more health-focused getaways sprouting up in Wine Country. Here are a few prime options for a weekend of joyful detoxing. Your liver will thank you.
Sweat it out
This year, Meadowood is offering an attraction other than its three-Michelin-Star restaurant: outdoor fitness classes. The resort’s Healthiest Year Yet package takes advantage of the miles of trails that wind through the scenic hills overlooking St. Helena, with a 90-minute interval workout of hiking, stretching, and strength exercises. Sweat out more toxins with unlimited yoga, zumba, and cardio classes. It also includes a fitness assessment and two nights in a room with a deep soaking tub for repairing sore muscles. Recover at the pool with juice blends made with herbs and produce from the garden.
Solage Calistoga feels less like a hotel and more like a hippie commune—if said hippies were rich. Rooms come in the form of quaint, single-story houses complete with beach cruisers for cycling around the property. P over to the spa for soaking in the purifying geo-thermal mineral pools or the detoxifying mud bar. (Tip: couples can rent out the entire bathhouse at night, for a private mineral pool session under the stars.) Refresh in the morning with a series of complimentary studio classes, like meditation, restorative yoga, barre, and spinning.
Right on Sonoma Highway, the Carneros Inn is Napa’s spot for lazy day activities. Days are best spent tossing a ball around the bocce court or backstroking across the hilltop adult-only pool, followed by a dinner with fresh ingredients at FARM. Mornings should be reserved for getting your circulation moving during group jogging through the vineyards.
