Dinner and a movie? Since 1999, Foreign Cinema has reimagined that pairing as a definitive San Francisco experience, complete with seasonal Cal-Med cuisine and lush 35-millimeter prints projected across one of the most enchanting courtyards in the city.
On September 18, chef-owners Gayle Pirie and John Clark are commemorating the restaurant’s 15th anniversary in a style befitting its neighborhood’s heritage: Their “Quintessentially Quixotic Quinceañera,” a riff on the traditional Latin-american celebration of a 15-year-old girl’s birthday, will involve food, drink, and Wizard of Oz–themed performances courtesy of drag eminence Heklina and her Trannyshack crew. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will also circulate through the crowd to offer their own brand of benediction.
Tickets may be purchased through the restaurant or Eventbrite; proceeds benefit Lyric and the Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy.
