The beloved Haight Ashbury landmark of Amoeba Music welcomed in a rush of fans from far and wide as drag superstar Trixie Mattel came to sign albums at a meet and greet.
The 33 year-old talent is a creative and comedic powerhouse, having not only accomplished winning RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 3, but also hosting a talk show, podcast, and most recently, a Discovery+ renovation show called Trixie Motel. All of these successes were praised and more on Tuesday October 11th, marking another triumphant community event on Amoeba's already-impressive history.

The signing began at 4pm, with many already fervently lined up to see the icon. The crowd wrapped all along the back of the bright and fully-stocked record store, showing a mix of both Amoeba regulars and newcomers.
There was a shelf with Trixie's albums for purchase and signing, which boasted her new double LP The Blonde & Pink Albums that includes her irresistably catchy "Hello Hello" masterpiece.

With her album playing overhead to set a light atmosphere against the foggy afternoon, the fans all waited patiently to each have their photo and conversation moment with Trixie, who had playfully clever and witty remarks to everyone's comments, outfits, and demeanors.
Many of her comments involved positively offering advice, calling her fans legends, and also joking about calling people's workplaces for those that said they "called in sick" or "worked from home" just for today. All of Trixie's interactions were touching, pleasant, and adoring, with a few passionately breaking into tears after confessing how the superstar deeply impacted their lives.

This event also came in proper timing to National Coming Out Day, which Trixie also addressed and joked, "I'm coming out!" Trixie is a proud advocate for gay rights and a groundbreaker in both the drag and queer scene, having purchased Wisconsin's oldest gay bar to keep the history alive.
She is also known for thoughtfully vocalizing important issues in discussions both in and out of drag (as Brian Firkus) on the UNHhhh talk show and The Bald And The Beautiful podcast with friend and fellow drag icon Katya.

Amoeba was the perfect venue to host such a trailblazer, having been a trusted community landmark for events and a diverse musical catalogue since its opening in the historic Haight Ashbury neighborhood in 1997. Live shows here have included excluzive acts from M.I.A., Sonic Youth, the Polyphonic Spree, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and even the late Elliott Smith.
With its casual vibe, genuinely helpful and highly knowledgeable staff, and impressively organized inventory of records, DVDs, books, and more, Amoeba continues to be an inclusively radiant beacon for all music lovers in both San Francisco and the greater Bay Area.
