While fans of the Oakland A's likely woke up today still Moneybawling over last night's horrific collapse, at least there's one ray of hope for Bay Area baseball fans: The Giants are going to the playoffs.
First they need to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in the National League's wild card playoff game tonight. The game starts at 5 pm—and though you can tune into it on ESPN, wouldn't you rather watch it at AT&T Park? There'll be a rally at 4 with Giants alumni and Lou Seal, followed by a watch party inside the stadium.
The Giants have already announced that Madison Bumgarner will be their starting pitcher, and just released the rest of their lineup. Bumgarner will be squaring off against Edinson Volquez — who, with a 9-1 record since June, may be hard to beat.
Online betting is favoring the Pirates, who reached the playoffs on a play-in game in 2013, breaking a 21-year drought. But, as Billy Beane will be the first to tell you, anything can happen. Or not.
