What better way to start off your morning than with a fresh brewed cup of artisanal coffee, especially one carefully created from power lifestyle couple Alexis and Hunter Pence?
Kicking off a sunny Monday morning on Hotel Via's sweeping rooftop right across from Oracle Park was the baseball legend himself, along with his stunningly iconic wife Alexis, Hotel Via General Manager Barbara Perzigian, and 25 Lusk Chef Matthew Dolan, all to promote the couple's own Pineapple Labs Coffee.

As a part of Small Business month, the San Francisco legends sat down in front of their coffee-sampling crowd to discuss the importance of supporting small businesses, as well as the ethical sourcing of their coffee beans and all their deliciously delicate flavor complexities.

"All of our beans are consciously sourced ethically from Ethiopia or Guatemala," Alexis affirms, with Hunter proudly adding, "We have new flavors frequently, and all proceeds of this month's May Pearl bundle will go to benefit Ladies Who Launch." May Pearl was named to honor the strong and illustrous "pearls" in our lives this Mother's Day month, and the couple thoughtfully dedicated all its sales to support and empower mothers and female small-business owners through the uplifting non-profit.
With May Pearl containing toasty and refreshing notes that are lightly "reminiscent of a refreshing Arnold Palmer," both Hunter and Alexis take great care in every intricate detail of their products, from the sourcing of their beans to the final brew's subtleties, and even down to the packaging. "Our white bags are totally sustainable," Alexis states before describing the backstory behind the logo on it. "Our logo is a pineapple made from a flask to show the science behind our process in a fun and creative way."
Fun and creative are truly two perfect words to describe the cohesive magic of the two's flawless partnership, to which esteemed journalist Amy G. then asked on just how they manage to work so well together. "Hunter's the fun of the company, coming up with the names and flavors!" Alexis gleefully explained, to which Hunter lovingly supplemented, "I come up with the goofy names, which is the easy part, but she's definitely the backbone and structure of the company."
The positively-caffeinated couplpe were joined on stage by Barbara Perzigian, the Hotel Via General Manager and Chef Matthew Dolan of 25 Lusk, both of whom also adoringly elaborated on the joys of working with Pineapple Labs and exclusively featuring their products at these premiere establishments.
When asked on how does being in San Francisco's diverse and sunny atmosphere specifically inspire Pineapple Labs, Alexis exclusively told San Francisco Magazine, "Well I got into coffee because of San Francisco and all the great coffees here! We're so lucky to have so many great shops, especially specialty coffee shops, so that was a huge influence in my life because I didn't even drink coffee before coming to San francisco."
Glowing perfectly in the warm city sun, Alexis further raves, "the diversity, the street art, the food, and the small businesses all play a part in inspiring me and the gift sets. I had a pop up here last year around this time and a lot of the drinks I served were inspired by all things San Francisco, like Karl the Fog and our brand, tropical pineapples!"
Hunter then adoringly added, "San Francisco is a wonderful city that's near and dear to our hearts, and to be supported by the city means the world to us. To have our coffee across the street from the stadium at Hotel Via that's run by so much love, that's really a reflection of what we stand for and what we love to be a part of. San Francisco radiates so much love and joy, and we're so happy to be here."
Hunter and Alexis are no strangers to our Bay Area's luminous kindness, with Hunter being a longtime-prized player with the San Francisco Giants until his retirement in 2020. Since then he and Alexis have prolifically taken on nationwide ventures before eventually finding a beloved home once again in their unique and cherished city by the bay.
It was an absolutely brilliant morning with no Karl in sight, allowing Hunter and Alexis to converse and personally get to know their local attendees, all while sipping on their divinely refreshing cold brews and finely crafted coffee-themed cocktails.
The two hope to continue not only growing their business, but also to help in growing and empowering those community small businesses around them.
