The most over-the-top San Francisco chef event of the year, SF Chefs is currently under way until August 4, corralling over 150 accomplished chefs and 40 top winemakers, bartenders, and beverage purveyors in Union Square. There are classes, demos, and panels, but your best chance to gorge is at the Friday and Saturday taste-a-thons: The 20,000-square-foot tasting tent in the center of Union Square is stuffed to the max with restaurants (Absinthe, Wayfare Tavern, Morimoto Napa) serving bites from their menus, along with winemakers pouring and bartenders shaking. Friday night, you can clink glass with industry types at San Francisco’s Best Chefs after-party, celebrating the winners in this month's San Francisco Best Chefs edition: Stuart Brioza, Nicole Krasinski, Brett Cooper, James Syhabout, Ceri Smith, and Stephanie Prida. The same sextet will gather the following day for an insider roundtable discussion led by editor-at-large Sara Deseran.
