No, it’s not guaranteed to keep you from getting lung cancer, but Ploom’s new vaporizer, called Pax, at least makes smoking easier on the people around you.

Instead of burning your tobacco (or other smokable product) with a flame, it gently warms your material to just below the combustion point, thus producing vapor instead of smoke. It looks cool, too—like a colorful version of the monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey. It’s powered by an internal rechargeable battery, and it’s small enough to fit in a pocket.
