It's hot! Like, really hot.
How hot is it?
So hot that the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for the Bay Area. (Sorry, did you think that was that the setup for a joke there? We're too sweaty for jokes today.)
The advisory—which went into effect at noon today and continues through Friday, though it may be extended to Saturday—comes in response to temperatures that have hit the high 80s at the coast and up to 100 inland.
The National Weather Service is recommending drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms and out of the sun, and checking on friends and neighbors. It is also recommending that those who work outdoors take frequent rest breaks in shaded areas, a recommendation that we're taking to heart by having avoided physical labor ever since that one time in 2002 we tried to fix our fence and ended up knocking the whole thing down. (Okay, fine, one joke—but then we're going right back to heat- and humidity-induced lethargy.)
