A very wet Market & 7th streets.
For the first time in a long while, our city is besieged by liquid precipitation descending from the heavens.
Yes, that's right, it's raining and, boy, are we in dire need of it. Before the rains came, our city was drier than Woody Allen's wit—and just as needy.
This year has been one of the most parched on record for not just San Francisco and the Bay Area, but for the entire state of California. According to data from the Weather Channel, San Francisco's year-to-date average is around 16 inches. By comparison, so far in 2013, it has only rained a meager 3.95 inches! That's less than the average amount of rain for the entire month of February normally (4.06 inches).
Today's rainfall is expected to taper off by sunset and the good weather to return tomorrow (expect mostly sunny in the mid 60's).
In the meantime, enjoy this tune from The Grateful Dead called "Mission in the Rain."
