It's Windy!

Scott Lucas | November 22, 2013 | Lifestyle Story City Life

Start hauling the sacrificial tofu lamb replacement up to the Transamerica Pyramid, because clearly the gods hate us. After getting slammed with a rainstorm on Wednesday, wind storms hit the Bay Area yesterday and today. Since we can't blame Twitter for this one, we're going to blame the Roman god Jupiter.

Here's what we know: the gusts of wind, which reached up to 65 mph near Piedmont and were especially strong in the North and East Bay, caused accidents that killed two people and left thousands of homes and businesses without power.

According to the Chron, one of the deaths occurred when a tree fell on a man near Fruitvale Avenue in Oakland at 8 p.m. last night. Soon after, a motorist on Skyline Boulevard, trying to avoid debris, crashed and was killed.

At the worst point, more than 67,000 PG&E customers were blacked out. Reports on Twitter indicated that parts of Berkeley remained without power through the morning. Trees were downed across the region, including Santa Rosa

Unlike rain—without which trees and flowers could not grow—wind is a worthless weather phenomenon, which exists only to mess your day up.
