Don’t be confused when you brunch at Jolene’s—you’re in a queer space now. The driving beats hit you as you walk in the door, and remember to bring your ID because they do check. Walk back to the kitchen window and order a brunch worthy of your inner weekend warrior. The hearty vegetable scramble, a savory delight with arugula, romanesco and avocado; and banana pancake poppers, perfectly fried, sugar-dusted two-bite sweets with cinnamon cream cheese, are favorites. No seats open at the bar or the high-tops? Make new friends around the pool table, sometimes covered on weekends 11am to 3pm (when brunch is served) for community-style standing-room-only eating. Beautiful food takes a minute, so get your bottomless (really) mimosa refilled and keep those vibes rolling. The Sunday drag show is about to start. And it’s a good one, so bring some dollar bills to tip the performers. No reservations required. 2700 16th St. (at Harrison Street), 415.913.7948
