disability-pride-month-2022.jpgJuly is Disability Pride Month, and since its inception in 1990, many cities nationwide have joined in and continue to uphold both its celebration and advocacy of intersectional disability diversity.

With the disabled community comprising 15% of the population, many are not only of color and of different sexual orientations and economic backgrounds, but also hold different talents, passions, and interests. While this month is about inclusively promoting the pride and unity the disabled community have in solidarity, Disability Pride Month is also dedicated to further attaining inclusivity and justice through greater education and awareness. By highlighting real shared experiences of both successes and of marginalization, such wide experiences within the community aim to break preconceived stigmas and systemic barriers.

Here are 10 organizations around the San Francisco Bay Area to support this July which devote their programs, services, and events to promoting greater health, visibility, community, and artistic enrichment for those of various mental health, physical, and ongoing health conditions.
