Known for her 2013 breakout hit "Royals" from her debut album "Pure Heroine" when she was first 16, now a decade later, Lorde has shone once again with her bright "Solar Power" album, bringing her sunny sounds with a tour stop to the packed Bill Graham Civic Auditorium Tuesday May 3rd.
Now 26, the New Zealand native delivered a triumphantly cheerful and personal performance to the sold-out show, filling almost 2 hours with her melodic ballads, warm messages, and outstanding theatrics performing on an gigantic sundial.

Her luminous Solar Power album was heavily inspired by our own beachy California summers, and she ensure to encapsulate that mindset only our golden state can provide all throughout her dreamy soundscape.
“You know that feeling that I’m talking about, right?” Lorde cleverly asked her audience of over 8,000, “it’s a very specific kind of hazy, sexy power. I know you know what I’m talking about because you live in California." Hyping up the crowd, she emphasized, "I wanted to capture that feeling so that no matter where I was, no matter what kind of day I was having, I could summon it."
Prior to the main talent taking the stage, local artist Remi Wolf got the crowd amped up with her dazzlingly poppy and colorful performance and songs.
Coming off her debut album "Juno" last year, the Palo Alto High School graduate rose to highly-acclaimed prominence with her distinctly catchy voice in clever songs like "Photo ID" and "Sexy Villain."

Honest, lighthearted, and casual to all her fans, Lorde began her showstopping act with a simple introduction and a grateful affirmation. “Hello and welcome to the Solar Power Tour. My name is Ella,” the songstress, truly named Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor amusingly began. “You may know me as Lorde. “It is my absolute privilege to be with you tonight.”
With that, the illustrious show kicked off, inviting her spectators to dance, sing, and party along to both her new and classic hits.

Beaming in front of the marvelous lights of both the stage and her fans, Lorde electrified the crowd with her medley blending together all the unique sounds of her incredibly prolific career.
When it came time to belt out her massive hit "Solar Power," she delivered an extravaganza of confetti cannons to her devoted crowded matching each lyric word-for-word, all while providing insider information on the song. She elucidated that the song meant to embody the essence of “a long day in the sun, your skin warmed, the kiss of the ocean, the fuzz of day-drinking,” which most certainly was felt in the throughout the night.
Among her delightfully bright songs were her more serious ballads such as "Liability," "Stoned and the Nail Salon," and "Team." After what seemed like a grand finale came an explosive encore where she had to treat her longtime fans to her premiere pop masterpieces "Royals" and "400 Lux."
With San Francisco as Lorde's serenely sunny center stage, we hope she returns again soon to our irresistably relaxing and inspiring golden coast!
