These Bay Area gents have style galore. A closer look reveals the personalities behind all that panache.
MICHAEL MOORE
Michael Moore, the marketing director at the San Francisco Design Center, nurtures communication, education and a sense of community among showrooms, designers and their clients. The marketing pro, whose go-to brands include Calvin Klein (calvinklein.us), Etro (etro.com) and Fursac (fursac.com), also hosts market events each spring and fall, showcasing the hottest trends in the interior design community. “San Francisco is a vibrant, diverse and creative place,” says Moore, who also serves as the publisher of Henry, a quarterly magazine focused on regional and international design. “The mix of cultures here is truly inspiring. From dining to the creative arts, there’s [always] something new to do.” The strength of SF’s design community isn’t lost on Moore, who loves interior designers’ mutual respect. “Everyone roots for and supports their colleagues in the community to succeed.” sfdesigncenter.com, @sfdesigncenter

Walk down Hyde Street, and you may bump into the handsome Brit, Alexis Solomou. The charming restaurateur owns and operates two Italian eateries: Seven Hills and Collina. “I’ve been in the business since 2001 when I arrived in SF from London,” says Solomou. “I began my restaurant career waiting tables, then moved to bartending and later managed.” Solomou is an exceptional host—he greets regulars by name. Ask him what to order at Collina, and he’ll recommend cheese-stuffed squash and throw in a wine pairing. The father of four says that he couldn’t be happier and describes his trattorias as “great places for first dates and catching up with old friends. I keep coming back to what I love,” he says. “Feeding people.” @sevenhillssf, @collina.sf
