A sparkling new Miss Dior debuts, wrapped in a new, couture-inspired bow.
“Make me a fragrance that smells like love” Christian Dior famously said to his perfumers in 1947. The result was the house’s iconic scent Miss Dior, which is reimagined this fall by François Demachy with notes of noble iris and peony complementing the romantic rose heart—and wrapped in an equally iconic bow that befits the famous fragrance. In keeping with the heritage of the house, Dior tapped the most talented artisans in the world for the project—working with the ateliers of ribbon-makers for their couture shows to craft a Jacquard, floral-festooned ribbon that is translated into a pointillist bow around the neck of the new bottle.
“For five generations now, since 1864, the Faures have been creating and producing exceptional ribbons in Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert, in the Saint-Étienne region traditionally dedicated to this artisanal craft,” explains Julien Faure. “We are the guarantors of an exceptional French expertise and we have the privilege of working with the greatest French luxury houses, in particular of haute couture and watchmaking,” he says. “Using the Jacquard treatment, our aim was to have an almost abstract, pointillist blossom appear on this ribbon. The result is very modern, like a spray of very fine blue, pink and yellow flowers that completely cover the ribbon,” he says. “We demonstrated the same exact standards, in terms of creativity and quality, as for a ribbon destined for a haute couture dress. Our long and meticulous research led us to the creation of a particularly fine, multicolored thread, so that the ribbon would remain soft to the touch. The thread is the result of a series of steps, beginning with printing transparent bobbins which were then cut into multicolored threads.” The result? “Each Miss Dior bow is absolutely unique, in true couture spirit.”
