Chef George Chen
China Live now offers takeout, delivery and even cooking lessons so you needn't miss out on your favorite dishes.
Loyal customers of China Live might be missing chef and owner George Chen’s dim sum, pork char siu and Sichuan chili prawns right about now. But no worries, there’s an app for that (several apps, actually). Thanks to Chen’s early pivot to accommodate the shelter-in-place, the restaurant continues to offer delivery and pick-up—yes, even their famous Peking duck and tamarind laced sweet and sour basil glazed pork ribs are available to enjoy at home. To pair with your dishes, China Live announced its new line of house wines available for delivery, including Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot, made in collaboration with a Sonoma winery. Customers can get 20% off when ordering pick-up orders from their website by entering the code 719. You can also order spices, teas, condiments, produce, cookware and cutlery, as well as $100 gift cards for $90 by clicking on “shop” on their home page. Delivery and pick-up hours are Monday through Thursday from 4-8pm, and Saturday and Sunday noon-8pm. You may call or text orders at 415.788.8188, order online at chinalivesf.com to pick up at the restaurant (644 Broadway), or order for delivery through Caviar, DoorDash, UberEats and GrubHub too.
For those of you interested in learning how to make some of China Live’s dishes yourself, Chen, along with his wife, Cindy Wong-Chen, just launched a new web series called China Live @Homehere.
