Buckshot
“This bar is a little college-sceney on weekends, so go on weekdays. It’s a shot-and-a beer place but has surprisingly awesome bar food. The sloppy Joe is mayonnaisey in the best way. And they have chicken-fried bacon with maple syrup that everyone orders.”

San Dong House
“The only ambience here is the occasional Chinese soap opera. It’s also cash-only, which is a pain in the ass. They’re known for their hand-pulled noodles, but I get the lamb dumplings. The filling is super lamby and shreddy and juicy.”

Sun Stream Coffee
“I don’t know of any other Brazilian coffee shops in the city. This one has, like, three seats. I get a coxinha—I don’t know how to pronounce it. It’s a fried, savory pastry full of chicken and cream cheesy stuff that’s kind of molten when you eat it.”
