The store, which includes transparent displays and wide aisles, was designed to maximize natural light. “We really look at the region we’re in,” says Ignaz Gorischek, vice president of store development. “There’s such beautiful light here.”

The Men’s Apartment is an event space, fitting room, and made-to-measure shop. The grid pattern on the far wall allows tailors to photograph customers and ascertain measurements from the grid.
An element throughout the store, the branches in the men’s shoe department window are intended to reflect the store’s local environment.
This display table in the women’s department is made from strips of old Neiman Marcus catalogs. In addition to displays, the Walnut Creek store contains 163 pieces of original art.
The NM Café on the second floor seats 36.
The Girlfriend apartment is four fitting rooms with facing doors to make it easy to show off finds to friends.
The kids department features a play-tent, mini versions of the store's custom chairs, and butterfly-shaped signs on ribbon.
