1) Osso Steakhouse (1177 California Street) has opened on the ground level of the Gramercy Towers atop Nob Hill. Another old school steakhouse with lots of dollar signs attached to it, Osso falls in step with the Harris’ and Houses of Prime Rib of the world. Owners Jerry and Jennifer Dal Bozzo and Dante Serafini were part-owners of Boboquivari’s up until the end of last year, and they continue to run The Stinking Rose restaurant group. Inside Osso, you’ll find Jennifer Dal Bozzo’s ambitious Deco-style remodel of the space (see above), and a menu featuring lots of dry-aged beef, and bone-in ribeyes—a Flinstonian cut you could only find at Bobo’s, until now. Hmm.

2) Don Pistos’ offshoot Pisto’s Tacos (1310 Grant Street) opened at the end of last week in North Beach. Owner Pete Mrabe—who also has a Chubby Noodle restaurant and a commissary kitchen in the words—darkened up the former Nico’s Tacos with wood walls and some art that bought down in Sayulita. He even refurbished the old neon “Tacos” sign from the Nico’s days, making it red and taking out the “Nico’s” part. The menu includes pork tamales, Mexican corn, and lots of $2 two-bite tacos—so you can try a lot of them in one sitting. Another thing to note: Pisto’s chips, which are delicious, and its flour tortillas are all made in-house. Mrabe is working with a counter-service format right now, although he may switch that up in the coming weeks.

3) Eve Lounge has been reincarnated as Southside Spirithouse (575 Howard Street), a new gastropub under the same ownership. The interior has a woodsy, homey feel now, and one wall is lined up with cassette tapes to give it a little funk. Michael Frances, who has La Folie and RNM on his resume, has consulted on the menu of sliders, flatbread pizzas, and other bar bites. 4) Today is the day Farmshop Marin (2257 Larkspur Landing Circle) opens in the Marin Country Mart. We shared a lot about this one in last week’s Weekly Feed, and now you can go in and check out the teal mohair seating and wood-roasted Jidori chicken for yourself. Remember Farmshop is open for dinner service only right now, with lunch and brunch service on the way this summer.

5) According to this press release, Cindy Pawlcyn’s new restaurant at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cindy’s Waterfront (886 Cannery Row, Monterey) has been open for about a week now. There is now a full-service restaurant, and a quick service cafĂ© with ocean views and Cindy’s signature farm-to-table fare. More info on all of this can be found here.
