ICYMI- Billie Eilish is now owner of a Grammy, a Golden Globe, and most recently, an Oscar for Best Original Song for “No Time to Die.” The already seven-time Grammy winner worked with her brother Finneas on the latest opening James Bond song, which became no. 16 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and topped both the UK and Irish Singles Charts.
At 18, Eilish became the youngest-ever recording artist for a James Bond song, and now two years later she is reaping the rewards, sharing her honor also with her devoted fans while on her “Happier than Ever” national tour.
Immediately following the Oscars, Eilish continued onto her next stop north of Los Angeles right into San Francisco’s Chase Center on Tuesday evening, March 29th. “It’s been quite a week, it’s been a blur,” Eilish began at her show, “I won an Oscar!”
Still on her achievement high, she delivered an explosive performance to the crowd of over a thousand that was equally powerful, intimate, and personal.
After two years of postponing her musical visit to the Bay Area, Eilish made sure to channel that impatience and anticipation into a stage and visual set up that was just as colossal and immense.
Duckwrth opened for Billie and warmed up the crowd with intense and frenetic rapping all while wearing a kilt, then amid a giant projector screen and vivid strobe lights, Billie appeared. Making a theatrical entrance on a steel ramp, she began with “bury a friend,” having every element choreographed precisely.
She also began with "two rules for the night," directing, "the No. 1 rule is … don't be an asshole and don't judge anybody in here, And my second rule tonight is you have to have fun." With that, the crowd erupted and show was in motion.
While Eilish admitted that she felt sick and sleep-deprived, she powered through and catered to her fans who sang along with her word for word for every song during the two hour set.
Her popular and catchy “you should see me in a crown” and “bad guy” heightened the energy and rocked the arena, while “No Time To Die” and her three acoustic songs, including “i love you” with brother Finneas, provided a mellowing and reflective reprieve. “It’s okay to sit down here, grab some water, take a breath,” she caringly affirmed to her audience.

A stand out and exclusive Bay Area moment was the alignment of Billie and Finneas’ mother’s birthday. Along with the crowd, she and everyone briefly departed from her set list to sing “Happy Birthday,” which was a unique highlight.
Eilish closed the show on a poignant and sentimental note with tracks from her tour’s namesake album, “Getting Older and “Happier Than Ever.” From high-octane visuals, to tender moments appreciating her fans by projecting them on the big screen, the 20-year old chanteuse took great consistent control of the mood and pace of the crowd.

After more than two dozen stellar songs and a two year delay, Eilish’s appearance confirmed that the Bay Area music scene is back with conviction.
