In addition to spectacular views and striking interiors, The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Honolulu just upped the luxury game, announcing the kitchens and baths in its homes (planned for 2022) will be custom made by Italiandesign firm Molteni&C. “If you think of fashion houses, you think of Dior or Chanel,” says the building’s interior architect Dianna Wong. “In thesame way, when one thinks of high-end Italiandesign, Molteni&C represents the evolution of global design, bringing a form of high-fashioncouture to interior design.” Indeed, the look of thewhole building is elevated and sophisticated—think Balenciaga, not Birkenstock. “Because this development is not at the ocean’s edge but offersan elevated, urbanized perspective of Hawaiiwith panoramic ocean views, we created a refinedinterplay with contrasts: dark woods against white marbles, jewel tones and dark stones withwhite veins,” Wong says. In addition to the gorgeous units, residents will have exclusive access to a private amenity level with a pool, a spa, outdoorlounge space and even a karaoke room. Plus, they’llhave access to the hotel’s amenities including the planned 20,000-square-foot signature MandarinOriental Spa.
