Why: Where else could you ask Kevin Costner about which Pinot to pair with Bull Durham?

The Guardian’s Final Best of the Bay Party
What: One last celebration of forty years of the now-defunct Bay Guardian’s guide to music, art, food, and more.
Where: F8, 1192 Folsom St.
When: Thursday, November 13th, 6 pm to 2 am
Cost: FREE (Donations strongly encouraged)
Why: There'll be complimentary champagne, a dozen DJs, the Trap City Twerk Squad, and more. Now that’s a party.

Downtown Ice
What: Ice skating in downtown San Jose’s Circle of Palms.
Where: 120 S. Market Street, San Jose
When: Ongoing starting November 14th
Cost: $13 to $17 per person.
Why: It’s nice to pretend California has real winters, if only for a day.

2014 Tweed Ride: Dames, Dandies, Tea, & Mustache Contest
What: Don your finest tweed suit and wool sweater for the annual bicycle celebration of vintage style. Lycra strictly forbidden—but bring a teacup. Prizes for best mustache and best dressed.
Where: Meet at Patricia’s Green in Hayes Valley
When: November 16th, 11 am.
Cost: FREE, but RSVP requested
Why: Finally, a chance to spend time with those who understand your deep love for herringbone.

Flavor! Napa Valley
What: A series of events that highlight Napa’s food and wine and benefit programs and scholarships at The Culinary Institute of America’s Greystone Campus.
Where: 2555 Main Street, St. Helena
When: Nov 19th-23rd
Cost: $75 per person and up.
Why: Demos with The Restaurant at Meadowood’s Christopher Kostow or Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto should be enough. The wine is a bonus.

Holidays in Carneros
What: The annual celebration of the region in the south of Napa and Sonoma counties, featuring live music, art, and more.
Where: Participating wineries
When: November 22nd and 23rd, 11 am to 4 pm.
Cost: Varies
Why: How many shopping days are left until Christmas? Not enough.
