Six Places to Watch This Weekend's World Cup Final

Ian Eck | July 11, 2014 | Lifestyle Story City Life

The stage is set. Argentina vs. Germany. South America vs. Europe. Pope vs. Pope. The scrappy artistry of Lionel “the flea” Messi vs. a soul-crushing Blitzkreig of German perfection. So do it right, soccer fans. Savor it while it lasts at these prime spots around the Bay Area:

Speisekammer (Alameda)
This German bar and restaurant features the best food on the list. German food. And German beer. Throw some well-placed TVs in the mix, and you’ve got a great place to watch the Mannschaft make their final thrust.

Mina's Brazilian (Hayes Valley)
Watch conflicted Brazilians choose the lesser of two evils between traditional arch-rivals and recent defilers. Just soak up the embarrassment with authentic Brazilian food and drink.

SoMa StrEat Food Park (SoMa)
It’s a big outdoor beer garden with food trucks, lots of big-screen HD TVs, and mimosas. What’s not to like?

Mad Dog in the Fog (Lower Haight)
A fan favorite, they carry over 150 beers, as well as a rowdy bar crowd that takes full advantage of that fact. Mad Dog opens their doors at 6 am Sunday.

Pete’s Tavern (SoMa)
One of the most female-friendly sports bars in San Francisco, Pete has all the required comfort foods on lockdown.

Saints Peter and Paul Church (North Beach)
Soccer is for heathens. Spend the pope vs. pope Sunday showdown as you should. In prayer.
