Start 2024 off right with a special dinner event from a Michelin-starred favorite.
Sons & Daughters sits in Nob Hill, just a stone’s throw from the Dragon Gate in Chinatown, but it’s renowned for its Nordic cuisine and classic cooking techniques, which earned it a Michelin star.
Chef Harrison Cheney helms this tasting menu destination, and come Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 24 and 25, he and the team will welcome Swedish chef Jacob Holmström of two Michelin-starred restaurant Gastrologik.
It’s the latest episode in a series of collaborations, as Cheney and Holmström both have shared quite a history inside the walls of Gastrologik.
“Harrison was a very important part of Gastrologik’s evolution,” Holmström is quoted in a press release. “When Harrison returned to the restaurant after his time at The Ledbury in Notting Hill and Quince in San Francisco, he became sous chef and was quickly promoted to head chef. He was very influential in the culinary program.”
For this two-night event, the chefs will collaborate on a special menu that builds upon Northern California ingredients brought to life with New Nordic techniques. The evening will feature 20 alternating courses, including Caviar d’Aquataine Perlita, cured local fish, seasonal products and preserved goods.
“Jacob has been a mentor and now a good friend since my early days of starting out as a chef and throughout my career,” Cheney is quoted. “He played an instrumental role in shaping the way I cook, from teaching the art of foraging, preserving, and the importance of locality. Together, we’re pleased to continue showcasing new Nordic cuisine.”
Sons & Daughters beverage director David Kovek will curate wine pairings, representing both the European Alps and the U.S. West Coast.
Seatings start at $325, with wine and cocktail pairings for an additional $165, as well as a nonalcoholic beverage pairing for $115.
Seatings begin Wednesday and Thursday at 5 p.m., and reservations are now open at exploretock.com.
