Every year The Stern Grove Festival is the most anticipated free summer musical festival that brings the community together into their magical forest for an afternoon of amazing musical performances from the biggest artists, and this year is no different.
Going bigger and better than ever, 2022's start-studded lineup is set to include indie-rock icon Liz Phair, country star LeAnn Rimes, and Grateful Dead legend Phil Lesh, just to name a few!

For 10 weeks, the majestic trees and expansive location of Stern Grove will be filled with the most melodic and electrifying performances, all kicking off at the cusp of the warm summer on June 12th in the most Bay Area way.
Both funk masters Tower of Power and hip-hop legend Too $hort are slated to inaugurate this 85th season, which is a grand return after last year's finale was halted due to a water main break flooding the grounds.
“We are excited to highlight so many legendary Bay Area artists in our 85th season and also to continue our trend in recent years of presenting more and more high profile artists at Stern Grove Festival,” executive director Bob Fiedler gleefully remarks on his excitement to revitalize the city's music scene after a long Covid lockdown. “From my perspective, this is our best lineup ever, and we truly hope that everyone can find at least one artist that appeals to them over the course of our summer season.”
The first Stern Grove Festival was in 1938.
Others set to take center stage and rock the whimsically bucolic arena are the San Francisco Symphony, Toro Y Moi, Taj Mahal, and Cold War Kids. The closing show on August 14th is promised to be just as immaculate, as legendary Phil Lesh and Friends will perform at the annual Big Picnic.
