The evening began with the orchestra performing Sergei Prokofiev’s “Montagues and Capulets” from Romeo and Juliet.

Renowned pianist Lang Lang then joined Salonen and the orchestra for Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Piano Concerto No. 2.”

Following a dramatic rendition of Prokofiev’s “Death of Tybalt,” the concert concluded on a playful note with Saint-Saëns’ The Carnival of the Animals, featuring both Lang Lang and his wife, pianist Gina Alice.
