The Best Brunch-About-Town Options for Mother's Day

Jenna Polito | May 8, 2013 | Food & Drink Story Eat and Drink

Abandon your misgivings about the typical Mother’s Day boozy brunch. All of these spots have an x-factor.

Trace at W San Francisco
Go if you’re craving: Donut holes with strawberry lemon curd, fried chicken and cornmeal waffles with honey and thyme, bottomless candied bacon
Brownie points: Enjoy an after-brunch pop-up shopping spree featuring local designers and “tastemakers.” While sipping on bubbly drinks courtesy of the W, moms can browse jewelry from Lanyapi, sample Cocotutti chocolates, and snag a complimentary gift from Bliss Spa.
Brunch served 10am—2pm; Pop-up 11am—2pm, Trace at W San Francisco, 181 Third Street, San Francisco, 415-817-7836

Bluestem Brasserie
Go if you’re craving: Buttermilk chocolate hazelnut pancakes, spring vegetable frittata, peach Bellini
Brownie points: Moms will receive a complimentary Bluestem tote and a bag of house-made cookies to bring home to Dad — but only if she wants to share, of course.
Brunch 11am—3pm, Bluestem Brasserie, 1 Yerba Buena Lane, San Francisco, 415-547-1111

Go if you’re craving: Black bean sauce enchiladas with scrambled eggs and house-made chorizo, chilaquiles, California Kobe flank steak alambres
Brownie Points: Sample a special goat birria dish from Chef Gonzalo Rivera, inspired by his grandmother. Moms can savor the authentic flavors of this Mexican stew, made with whole goat and chile de arbol salsa.
Brunch served 10am—4pm, Copita, 739 Bridgeway, Sausalito, 415-331-7400

One Market Restaurant
Go if you’re craving: Bay shrimp tacos with jalapeno and shiso, savory cheese doughnuts with bacon aioli, grass fed steak tartare with quail egg yolk, parsley, and country bread
Brownie Points: One Market’s dining room, with its open kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Ferry Building Marketplace and Bay Bridge, is a sight to see. There’s limited availability, so make a reservation soon!
Brunch served 10am—2pm, One Market Restaurant, 1 Market Street, San Francisco, 415-777-5577

Go if you’re craving: Quiche Lorraine with spinach, bacon, and gruyere cheese; Eggs Benedict with poached eggs, a toasted English muffin, prosciutto and Hollandaise sauce
Brownie Points: Moms get a drink for free! While enjoying the laid-back atmosphere of this old-world French bistro, they can sip on a Kir Royal sparkling wine cocktail courtesy of Garcon.
Brunch served 1pm—5pm, Garcon!, 1101 Valencia Street, San Francisco, 415-401-8959

And if Mom’s planning on sleeping in, Luke’s Local will deliver everything you need to treat her to a gourmet breakfast in bed on Sunday morning. Their Mother’s Day Box ($65) includes a spinach quiche breakfast kit with crust from Marla Bakery, hummingbird juice from SōW Juice, Nosh This Salted Caramels, and McGinnis Ranch flowers. Place an order by 3pm on Friday for delivery to your door on Saturday afternoon. The brownie points here are self-explanatory.
