The Best Retail Therapy Right Now

Lauren Murrow | March 6, 2014 | Lifestyle Story Shopping

Unfailingly demure New York designer Carolina Herrera—best known for trend-defying cocktail dresses and gowns—opens her first San Francisco CH Carolina Herrera boutique (45 Grant Ave., near Geary St.), a three-story, CH-monogrammed empire swathed in wood, leather, raw linen, and brass. The dressed-down spinoff of Herrera’s runway label, CH brings a spring haul that’s polished but playful: cropped polka-dot trousers, jaunty swing jackets, floral shirtdresses, and measured forays into sheerness.

Upscale outlet Nordstrom Rack arrives on March 6 (901 Market St., at 5th St.), a short block away from its full-priced Westfield Centre counterpart. The two-story sister store offers Nordstrom’s stock of clothes, shoes, denim, lingerie, and accessories at 50 to 70 percent off, including the likes of D&G, Marc by Marc Jacobs, John Varvatos, Diane von Furstenberg, T by Alexander Wang, Jason Wu, and Michael Kors.
