The Case of the High-Tech Heroin Hooker Just Got Even Crazier

Scott Lucas | July 10, 2014 | Lifestyle Story City Life

Life imitates art. A self-professed sex worker has been arrested in the death of a Google executive, charged with poisoning him by a heroin overdose aboard a yacht docked in Santa Cruz in 2013.

It's a sad story, and a little scary. But it also makes you wonder what kind of movie the likes of Quentin Tarantino, the Coen Brothers, or even Sofia Coppola could turn this into. (We're just saying that we're available for screenwriting duties, really.)

So let's get down to the gritty details: Alix Tichelman, a 26-year-old sex worker, is alleged to have injected a 51-year old Google executive, Forrest Timothy Hayes, with a lethal dose of heroin before leaving him to die. The alleged manslaughter took place aboard his 50-foot yacht, which was docked at the time in Santa Cruz. According to reports about the case, Tichelman had an ongoing prostitution relationship with Hayes, a married father of five. After injecting him with heroin, Santa Cruz police have said that security footage from inside the yacht shows Hayes collecting her belongings, which included drugs, and stepping over the body "to finish a glass of wine." Tichelman was arrested on Friday, after police lured her near Santa Cruz by posing as a client online.

But the story got even stranger today, as new allegations of other crimes began to surface. According to the Chron, Tichelman was arrested in Georgia last year on suspicion of domestic violence against a boyfriend, the owner of an Atlanta nightclub, who then died two weeks later under mysterious circumstances. Authorities in Atlanta said they would be taking another look at that death in light of her Santa Cruz arrest. In that incident, she allegedly bit her 53-year-old boyfriend, who died days later after suffering a heart attack. That man, Dean Riopelle, was the former frontman of a rock group called the Impotent Sea Snakes, and had been the target of local controversy after he tried to expand his hobby of raising lemurs and monkeys into a 21-acre private zoo.

You know what actually? A high class hooker, a dead Google exec, and another dead wannabe rock star slash lemur farmer? This is a P.T. Anderson movie. We still want to write the script, though.
